Terms of Service
PeakView
These terms govern your relationship with PeakView when you visit peakview.store, join the waitlist, place an order, or create a Basecamp account.
PeakView produces a limited number of hand-built frames each year. Allocation is by waitlist. Production is made-to-order. The brand is operated to a standard, and these terms exist to make that standard explicit.
By using peakview.store or basecamp.peakview.store, you accept these terms.
01·Who we are
PeakView is operated by Matheo Girouard, founder and sole proprietor, based in New Brunswick, Canada.

02·The waitlist
Joining the PeakView waitlist for the Summit Series or any individual frame creates no contract of sale, no right to purchase, and no reservation of any specific unit. The waitlist is an expression of interest only.
You join the waitlist by submitting your email address through peakview.store. We send you a Welcome correspondence confirming your position on the list.
You may leave the waitlist at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any PeakView email, or by emailing hello@peakview.store.
03·Allocation
PeakView produces 111 numbered units per frame in the Summit Series. The total Series allocation is 777 units across seven frames.
Allocation of available units is made at PeakView's sole discretion. We may consider waitlist order, account history, geographic distribution, and other factors when allocating units. We reserve the right to refuse allocation to any person at any time, for any lawful reason.
When PeakView allocates a unit to you, you will receive an Allocation Offer by email. The offer is valid for 72 hours from the time of delivery and lapses if not accepted. Acceptance is completed by payment in full through the checkout process.
No contract of sale is formed until your payment has been received and confirmed.
Allocation Offers are personal to the recipient. They may not be transferred, sold, or assigned to any other person without PeakView's written consent.
04·Production and delivery
Made-to-order
Every Summit Series frame is hand-built in Cadore, Italy, after your order has been confirmed and paid. By placing an order, you understand and accept:
- Production begins after payment is received in full.
- Standard lead time is six to eight weeks from order confirmation to shipment.
- Lead times are estimates, not guarantees. Delays caused by manufacturing, materials sourcing, customs, or shipping are not grounds for cancellation once production has commenced.
Cancellation window
You may cancel a confirmed order for a full refund within 48 hours of order confirmation, provided production has not yet commenced. After 48 hours, production may have begun and orders are non-cancellable.
Custom production notice — for EU and UK customers
Because each frame is hand-built to order, in a numbered limited run, your frame qualifies as a good "made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalized" under Article 16(c) of the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and the equivalent UK regulation. This means the standard 14-day cooling-off period for distance contracts does not apply once you have placed your order.
This exemption does not affect your statutory rights regarding defective goods. See Section 06 below.
05·Payment, taxes, and shipping
Payment
All payments are processed by Stripe in the currency displayed at checkout. We accept major credit and debit cards. PeakView does not store your card details.
Origin
All Summit Series frames ship from Cadore, Italy. International orders are imports into your destination country.
Duties and taxes
Import duties, customs fees, and destination-country taxes are the responsibility of the buyer. These charges are not included in the product price or shipping cost shown at checkout. PeakView is required to declare the full purchase value on customs documentation. We do not under-declare orders or mark them as gifts.
Shipping
Orders ship via insured tracked courier (typically DHL, FedEx, or UPS). Risk of loss transfers to the buyer upon delivery to the carrier.
Lost or damaged in transit
If your shipment is lost or damaged in transit, contact hello@peakview.store within 14 days of the expected delivery date. PeakView will work with the carrier to investigate and resolve. Insurance claims are made by PeakView; replacement or refund follows the carrier's resolution.
06·Defects, warranty, and returns
Final sale
Due to the made-to-order, numbered, and limited nature of the Summit Series, all sales are final once production has commenced. We do not accept returns for change of mind, fit preference, or styling concerns.
Manufacturing defects
PeakView guarantees each frame against manufacturing defects for 24 months from the date of shipment. A manufacturing defect is a flaw in the frame, lens, or hardware that is attributable to production rather than to wear, accident, or misuse.
If you believe your frame has a manufacturing defect, contact hello@peakview.store within the warranty period with photographs and your order number. PeakView will, at our discretion, repair the frame, replace components, or refund the purchase price.
Lens damage
Scratched, cracked, or broken lenses are not covered by warranty. Replacement lenses may be purchased separately when available.
Statutory rights
Nothing in this section limits the consumer protection rights you may have under the laws of your jurisdiction. This includes non-excludable rights under EU and UK consumer protection law, Quebec's Consumer Protection Act, and Canadian provincial consumer law.
07·The Altitude Code and Basecamp access
What the Altitude Code is
Each Summit Series frame ships with a unique alphanumeric code etched on the inner temple of the frame ("the Altitude Code"). When activated at basecamp.peakview.store, the Altitude Code unlocks lifetime Elite tier access to the Basecamp service.
No subscription is required for frame owners.
One code, one activation
Each Altitude Code may be activated once, on a single Basecamp account. Once activated, the code is permanently bound to that account. PeakView does not reset, transfer, or reissue activated codes.
Transfer of the frame
If you sell, gift, or otherwise transfer your frame to another person, the Altitude Code travels with the frame only if it has not yet been activated. Once activated, the code is bound to the account that activated it. The code does not transfer with the physical frame.
PeakView is not obligated to provide replacement Elite access to a subsequent owner of an already-activated frame.
Lost or stolen frames
Loss or theft of the physical frame does not revoke or transfer activated Basecamp access. Account access is governed by the account credentials, not by frame possession.
If your frame is stolen, contact hello@peakview.store. We will record the report and may, at our discretion, decline to honor subsequent activations of the frame's Altitude Code if it surfaces.
What "lifetime" means
"Lifetime" means for the operational lifetime of the Basecamp service. PeakView reserves the right to discontinue, modify, or replace the Basecamp service with reasonable notice. In the event of discontinuation, we will provide reasonable transition options where commercially feasible.
08·Basecamp — terms of use
These additional terms apply when you use basecamp.peakview.store.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age to create a Basecamp account. We verify age at account creation. We do not knowingly permit accounts for anyone under 16.
Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@peakview.store if you suspect unauthorized access.
Acceptable use
When using Basecamp, you agree not to:
- Submit false summit logs or falsified GPS data
- Impersonate another climber
- Harass, threaten, or harm other climbers
- Scrape, copy, or systematically extract data from the service
- Use automated tools to inflate elevation, activity, or summit counts
- Use Basecamp for any purpose other than its intended use as a personal ascent record
PeakView reserves the right to review, challenge, suspend, or revoke any summit or account that violates these terms.
Summit verification
Each summit log is subject to GPS verification. Free tier accounts may submit up to ten verified summits. After the tenth verified summit, additional summits are marked pending until the account is upgraded to Elite tier or the climber's frame is activated.
PeakView reserves the right to revoke verification on any summit that fails review.
The Mountain leaderboard
Your placement on The Mountain is contingent on verified activity and account standing. Suspended or revoked accounts do not appear on The Mountain.
The Mountain resets annually on 17 June, the High Ascent. Top one hundred climbers each year receive permanent legacy badges. The First Climber to Summit (if reached) enters the permanent record.
Service availability
Basecamp is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee continuous availability, uninterrupted service, or specific performance characteristics. Scheduled and emergency maintenance may occur from time to time.
Account termination
You may delete your account at any time by emailing privacy@peakview.store. Account deletion follows the retention rules described in our Privacy Policy.
PeakView may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, with notice where reasonable.
Changes to Basecamp
The Basecamp service evolves. Features may be added, modified, or removed. Material changes affecting your account or paid Elite access will be communicated in advance by email.
09·Intellectual property
PeakView marks
"PeakView," "Summit Series," "Basecamp," "The Mountain," "The High Ascent," the PeakView ibex mark, the lineage marks, the editorial photography, the manifesto, the dossier copy, and all other creative assets on peakview.store and basecamp.peakview.store are the intellectual property of PeakView.
These may not be reproduced, modified, distributed, or used commercially without our written permission.
Mountain names
Mountain names (Everest, K2, Kilimanjaro, Mont Blanc, Fuji, Aconcagua, Denali) are public geographic terms used in their descriptive sense to identify products in the Summit Series. PeakView claims no trademark rights in the mountain names themselves.
Your content
When you upload photos, summit logs, or other content to Basecamp, you retain full ownership.
You grant PeakView a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within the Basecamp service and on your public Climber profile.
PeakView will not use your content for marketing, promotion, press, or any other public-facing brand surface — Instagram, the storefront, editorial materials, or anywhere else — without contacting you first and obtaining your specific written permission for that specific use.
You may delete your content at any time, ending this license going forward.
10·Privacy
How PeakView handles your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy at peakview.store/policies/privacy-policy.
In particular: PeakView does not sell, license, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Ever.
11·Disclaimers
As-is service
PeakView products are sold and Basecamp is provided "as is" and "as available," to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, that GPS verification will be perfectly accurate in all conditions, that Basecamp will be free of errors, or that defects in the service will be corrected.
Not safety equipment
PeakView frames are designed as performance eyewear. They are not safety equipment, climbing protective gear, or medical devices. Do not rely on them for protection against impact, projectiles, or hazards beyond their intended use as sun and glare protection.
Climbing risk
The Basecamp service is a digital ascent record. It does not provide climbing instruction, route guidance, weather forecasting, or safety services. Climbing and mountaineering are inherently dangerous. You are solely responsible for your own safety, your preparation, your decisions, and your conduct in the mountains.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PeakView's total liability for any claim arising from these terms, your use of peakview.store, your purchase of a frame, or your use of Basecamp is limited to the amount you paid PeakView for the product or service in question during the twelve months preceding the claim.
Nothing in this section limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
12·Governing law and disputes
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of New Brunswick, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles, except that mandatory consumer protection laws of the buyer's home jurisdiction may apply where required.
Dispute resolution
If you have a concern, contact us first at hello@peakview.store. We take every concern seriously and resolve most disputes through direct communication.
If a dispute is not resolved within 60 days of written notice, it shall be resolved by binding arbitration in New Brunswick, Canada, under the rules of the Canadian Arbitration Association, except where prohibited by applicable consumer law.
Class action
To the maximum extent permitted by law, disputes will be brought individually and not as part of a class, collective, or representative action. This clause does not apply where prohibited by the law of your home jurisdiction.
13·Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will:
- Update the version number and effective date at the top
- Email registered customers about the change
- Post a visible notice on peakview.store
Continued use of peakview.store or basecamp.peakview.store after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may close your account and stop using the services.
14·Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. The unenforceable provision shall be replaced by an enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original.
15·Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and PeakView regarding your use of peakview.store and basecamp.peakview.store, superseding any prior agreements.
